The Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) supports community-driven solutions to expand opportunities for active living, healthy eating, and commercial tobacco-free living.
SHIP creates wellness across Minnesota’s communities through community-driven, evidence-based, and equity-focused programs that tackle the root causes of chronic diseases.
SHIP policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) work supports and advances sustainable changes. The PSE approach is a long-term approach to achieve equitable health outcomes.
What we eat has a direct effect on our health and well-being. Despite Minnesota’s reputation of being a rich agricultural state, too many Minnesotans cannot find fresh fruits and vegetables near their homes or what they can find is limited and expensive. Our communities, neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces have a role to play in supporting access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
MN Moves
When we move more, we live better. Regular physical activity improves your overall health and reduces your risk for many diseases. SHIP partnerships make moving more convenient and safer for everyone.
MN Breathes
Commercial tobacco use is still a problem. SHIP invests in commercial tobacco use prevention and control to save lives and taxpayer dollars. Although Minnesota’s adult cigarette smoking rates are the lowest ever recorded, we have more work to do to deter the use of new and flavored products, like e-cigarettes.
MN Well-Being
Well-being encompasses mental and physical health. SHIP is there to support local community efforts to create an environment where citizens can find life satisfaction, self-acceptance, sense of purpose, identity, belonging, and resilience.
