We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express for Motor Vehicle, Driver's License and DNR transactions. The card companies charge a 2.15% convenience fee to use your card.
We also accept cash, check, or money order. There is an ATM on site for your convenience.

Call the State’s Public Information Center at 651-297-2126 or visit their website and under Vehicle Services, click on "More Vehicle Services", go down to "Search for Registration Tax Paid" and enter the information you’re looking for.

Both primary & secondary documents are required, a complete list of acceptable documents can be found here, IdentificationRequirements_English.pdf (mn.gov). If your name has changed since your birth record, we need that document providing your name change, for example a certified marriage certificate or certified court order. A more complete list of acceptable documents can be found on the State of Minnesota's website.
In addition to the documents, if you have an Out-Of-Country license, you will need to take the written test. A written test is completed at a state exam station. Your documents are also required at the exam station.

Registered owner on record, bring in:
- Driver License
- Plate or serial number for the vehicle wanting to register
- Insurance information (insurance company name, policy number & policy expiration date: mm/dd/yyyy)
Customer not the registered owner, follow procedures below.
*Record Owner(s) may allow someone other than themselves to renew vehicle registration if:
1. You give your current renewal notice, mailed by the department, to person coming in on your behalf.
or
2. You are the record owner's spouse, who has the same address as the vehicle owner on your driver license.
or
3. You give a written note or power of attorney with a signature, authorizing the purchase of vehicle registration for the year, make, model and plate or serial number.
These individuals may not change anything on the vehicle record, including the address, or apply for duplicate plates without clear written authorization from record owner to do so.

At any Minnesota Exam Station and now accepting at the Morrison County License Bureau (there will be an $11 filing fee for Standard licenses and $16 for REAL/Enhanced)
