The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 5-25-2024 at approximately 2230 hours, a Morrison County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle located on Hwy 25, just south of Pierz, in Pierz Township. The driver of the vehicle was being investigated for speed and suspicion of Driving Under the Influence.
After a series of field sobriety tests, the Deputy informed the suspect that he was under arrest for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence and a struggle ensued. During the struggle the suspect was injured with a knife and was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office requested the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to investigate the Use of Force incident. There is video of this incident, which has been turned over to the BCA. All further inquiries regarding this incident will be directed to the BCA.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Little Falls Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Pierz First Response Team, Mayo Ambulance and Life Link III.
