The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking feedback from community members who have personal experience with adoption in Minnesota. There are upcoming changes regarding access to original birth records, and it is important for DHS to hear from those with lived experience in adoption to prepare for the changes. During the months of January and February, there will be opportunities for adopted individuals, adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, birth parents, and other relatives to provide feedback. These sessions will help DHS understand lived adoption experiences and hear feedback regarding access to adoption records. Session information is outlined below, participants must be age 18 or older, and all sessions will be held via Zoom.
